अभिनेता और प्ले राइट गिरीश कर्नाड का सोमवार सुबह बेंगलुरु स्थित अपने घर पर निधन हो गया. गिरीश ने सलमान खान और कैटरीना कैफ के साथ फिल्म 'टाइगर जिंदा है' में भी काम किया था. मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार लंबी बीमारी से जूझने के बाद गिरीश ने दुनिया को अलविदा कह दिया. लेखक और कन्नड़ रंगमंच के पुरोधा गिरीश काफी समय से बीमार चल रहे थे और उन्हें कई बार अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था.
गिरीश कर्नाड का जन्म 19 मई 1938 को माथेरान (महाराष्ट्र) में हुआ. उनकी मां एक विधवा थी, जिन्होंने डॉक्टर रघुनाथ कर्नाड से शादी की थी. चार भाई बहनों में वो तीसरे नंबर पर थे. ऐसे में पूरा देश गिरीश कर्नाड को श्रद्धांजलि दे रहा है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी से लेकर फिल्मकार महेश भट्ट, एक्टर सिद्धार्थ और सोनम कपूर ने ट्वीट के ज़रिये उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दी है.
