प्रशंसित फैशन डिजाइनर वेंडेल रॉड्रिक्स का आज उनके गोवा स्थित घर में निधन हो गया. बता दें कि उनकी उम्र केवल 59 वर्ष थी, उन्हें बतौर लेखक, पर्यावरणविद और समलैंगिक अधिकारों के मुखर समर्थक के रूप में जाना जाता था. उनका जन्म गोवा में 28 मई, 1960 को एक गोअन परिवार में हुआ था. वह समलैंगिक थे और 2002 में पेरिस में एक नागरिक समारोह में उन्होंने जेरोम मारेल से शादी की थी. ऐसे में उनके निधन की खबर सामने आने के बाद बॉलीवुड से लेकर फैशन इंडस्ट्री तक शोक की लहर फैल गयी है.
सोना मोहपात्रा, निमरत कौर, पूनम ढिल्लों, केंद्रीय कपड़ा और महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री स्मृति ईरानी, मधुर भंडारकर, नेहा धूपिया, ओनिर, शाइना एनसी, श्रुति सेठ, सोनी राजदान, एशले रेबेलो और कई अन्य सेलेब्स ने उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की है.

उन्हें न्यूनतमवाद के गुरु के रूप में सम्मानित किया गया था. उन्होंने 2003 में फिल्म 'बूम' में और 2002 में टीवी की दुनिया में 'ट्रू वेस्ट' प्ले में एक्टिंग की थी. इतना ही नहीं उन्होंने प्रियंका चोपड़ा और कंगना रनौत स्टारर फिल्म 'फैशन' में भी काम किया था.
इन सभी के अलावा उन्हें 2014 में भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्म श्री- भारत के चौथे सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
