पॉपुलर तमिल अभिनेता और कॉमेडियन विवेक को शुक्रवार सुबह दिल का दौरा पड़ने के बाद चेन्नई के एक निजी अस्पताल के इंटेंसिव केयर यूनिट में भर्ती कराया गया था. वहीं जिसके बाद तमिल के कॉमेडियन ऐक्टर और पद्मश्री से सम्मानित विवेक का शनिवार की सुबह चेन्नई के अस्पताल में निधन हो गया. वे 59 साल के थे. विवेक ने अब तक 200 से ज्यादा फिल्मों में काम कर चुके हैं. रिपोर्ट्स के मुकाबिक एक्टर विवेक ने सुबह के 4.35 बजे अंतिम सांस ली. तमिल स्टार के निधन पर कई फिल्मी सितारों ने शोक व्यक्त किया है. वहीं कमल हासन, सुपरस्टार रजनीकांत, एक्ट्रेस रकुल प्रीत सिंह, एक्टर प्रकाश राज और सिंगिंग माइस्ट्रो ए आर रहमान ने भी विवेक को श्रद्धांजली दी है. 
सुपरस्टार रजनीकांत ने लिखा है, ‘जूनियर कलाविनार, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, मेरे अच्छे दोस्त, विवेक. उनकी मौत का मुझे बहुत दुख हुआ है. मैं उनके साथ फिल्म शिवाजी के सेट पर बिताए गए दिनों को कभी नहीं भूल सकता. उनके परिवार को मेरी सांत्वना. उनकी आत्मा को शांति मिले.’

सुपरस्टार कमल हासन ने भी ट्वीट कर विवेक को याद किया है. कमल लिखते हैं, 'विवेक एक ऐसे इंसान थे, जो महज एक एक्टर नहीं थे बल्कि समाज को को अपने काम के जरिए कुछ लौटाना भी चाहते थे. वह इसके लिए एक्टिव होकर काम भी कर रहे थे. उनका जाना तमिल इंडस्ट्री के लिए शोकनीय है.'

நடிகனின் கடமை நடிப்பதோடு முடிந்தது என்று இருந்துவிடாமல் தனக்குச் செய்த சமூகத்துக்கு தானும் ஏதேனும் செய்ய விரும்பியவர், செய்தவர் நண்பர் விவேக். மேதகு கலாமின் இளவலாக, பசுமைக் காவலராக வலம் வந்த விவேக்கின் மரணம் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்திற்கு ஏற்பட்ட பேரிழப்பு.

एक्टर विवेक के निधन पर अदाकारा श्रुति हासन ने लिखा है, ‘विवेक सर का आकस्मिक निधन बेहद दुखद है. उनके प्रियजनों और परिजनों को मेरी सांत्वना जो उन्हें बहुत बुरी तरह याद करेंगे.’ तो वहीं, धनुष, सूर्या शिवकुमार से लेकर चिन्नयन विक्रम समेत कई सितारों ने एक्टर विवेक को श्रद्धांजलि ही है.
